This site displays the Tithi and Nakshatra active at local sunrise as the primary value for each day. This is the standard convention used in Drik Ganita-based Panchangams.
Occasionally, a Tithi or Nakshatra may start after one sunrise and end before the next sunrise. This is known as Tithi Kshaya (or Nakshatra Kshaya) — the Tithi is astronomically “lost” and does not appear as any day’s primary Tithi. Conversely, a slow-moving Tithi may span two consecutive sunrises (Tithi Vriddhi), appearing on two days.
These are natural astronomical phenomena caused by variations in the Moon’s orbital speed. They are not errors. Different Panchangam traditions handle these cases differently, which is another reason values may appear to differ between sources.
Festival dates shown are computed algorithmically based on lunar month and Tithi rules.
