August 2026 bridges Ashadha into Shravana Masam (శ్రావణం) — the most auspicious month in the Telugu calendar for worship of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Vishnu. Shravana Fridays (Shravana Shukravaram) are especially sacred for Telugu women, who perform Lakshmi puja each Friday of the month. The month builds toward Varalakshmi Vratam and Rakhi Pournami at its close.

Varalakshmi Vratam, the most important vratam of the Telugu year for married women, is observed on the Friday before Shravana Pournami — in 2026 this falls in late August. Because the qualifying Friday depends on local sunrise Tithi, the date can differ between India and diaspora cities; verify on your city's Panchangam page. Krishna Janmashtami follows in early September as Shravana's Krishna Paksha unfolds.
